Welcome to St. Thomas More School of Religion.
Our mission is to Evangelize and Catechize. The school consists of one department: The Department of Religious Education. The department sets the curriculum for grades 1st-12. It over sees the sacramental preparation for youth 1st-12th grades, which includes: Confirmation, RCIC, and Quinceañera Celebrations. The requirements for each are found in the Faith Formation Parent/Student Handbook. All parents are responsible to download the Handbook or at most read it in our parish website. Parents can also purchase the Handbook from the Religious Education office located in the Parish Rectory for ten dollars. Please allow five business days to complete your order.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church and in our own Student/Parent Handbook, state that parents are the primary catechists to their children(s). The Church assists the parents in passing on their faith through the ministry of catechesis. Catechists echo the Catholic faith in a way that those being catechized. They help children/youth build and strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church. Catechists do this by proclaiming the Word, building a sense of community, leading to prayer and worship, encouraging loving service to others and through the example of their own lives.
The Family Faith Formation and the Catechetical process depends on parents to continue enrollment of their children throughout their years of Family Faith Formation. It is a sad fact that many parents stop participating in their childs continued Family Faith Formation after receiving their sacraments. When children are interrupted in their Family Faith Formation, children tend to lose the relationship with Jesus Christ. We strongly encourage you to be consistent in your children(s) Family Faith Formation by enrolling them yearly. Our goal is to lead souls to Jesus Christ.
Sincerely yours in Christ the Risen Lord,
Mrs. Elizabeth Rodriguez
